PATRICK McGLYNN ON CH MOKENS CYCLONE

CH MOKENS CYCLONE

SIRE DUMBRITON BALDIE THOMPSON

DAM SWINFEN SUN FLOWER

ON the 1st of July 1974 Ken and Moe Browns bitch Swinfen Sunflower whelped a litter by Dumbriton Baldie Thompson. Jack and Pat Dunn of Seaham-good friends of the Browns went to buy a puppy, the following is Jacks account of that day.

Bob CH Mokens Cyclone was bought from friends Ken and Moe Brown. Pat and I went to see the litter at six weeks old. My first choice was not Bob but for his brother Mokens Tornado who really looked the part but never really made the grade. My second choice was for Penny(CH Mokens Whirlwind). This choice was also turned down by Ken. After both choices being turned down I then asked Pat to make a choice. Ican say that Pat has a much better eye for a dog than I .She chose Bob who went on to fulfill all his early potential, and started a successful campaign to become the first champion from the N.E.S.B.T.C.

Bob didn't do allot of winning as a puppy, his breakthrough came when at ten months of age when he went best puppy at the N.E.S.B.T.C.His first CC came on the 25th of March 1976 at Manchester under Mr Norman Berry.
His second came CC came fairly quickly-on the 30th of May at Leeds under Mr Don Wilkes.
(the Rec CC went to CH Hurricane of Judeal) His third and qualifying CCcame in Agust 1976 at the S.K.C- under
Mrs. Claire Lee(the Rec CC going to Raparee Rarin to go).A fourth came at Darlington on the 11th of September under Mr Ken Bailey were he also went B.O.B. The following year he took theRec CC at CRUFTS under
Mr Eddie Pringle the CC going to CH Reetuns Aristocrat. At Manchester 1977 he took the CC under
MrDavid Horsfall the only dog Ibelive to take the CC two years running at the time of writing. At CRUFTS in 1978 Bob took the dog CC which without doubt was Jack and Pat.s proudest and most memorable moment.
The B.O.B went to Carn Dearag Ne’erday. Amazingly both were by Dumbriton Baldie Thompson.

The following year Bobs daughter CH Bobon Amber Gambler owned and bred by the Bloomfeilds went B.O.B.at CRUFTS. Bob sired three Champions in all these being CH Bobon Amber Gambler,
CH Scarthwaite Rema and CH Ben Her. This was from only 36 matings- very few bitches were of show quality.
He was withdrawn from stud by Jack at six years old- the reason that is another story!. He was an excellent stud dog and had he been used more I feel sure he would have produced more top winners. One Champion in twelve matings isn't a bad average.
